Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 1008 or H.R. 4040

Chicago, Illinois (February 6th, 2009) – iDEA Media announces early compliance with upcoming Federal mandate concerning the lead content of consumer products intended for use by children. By law all products whose target user is under the age of 12 must pass a strict analysis for dangerous amounts of lead contamination.

iDEA MEDIA is constantly striving to insure we are at the forefront of both technology and safety. Our employees and executives have families and children, which make this concern a personal one as well as a professional one. Although these new testing and safety mandates will not go into effect until the first quarter of 2010 iDEA Media is taking proactive measures in this matter. In addition, iDEA realizes that these toxins cannot only affect our children, but our environment and our efforts to reduce waste and reuse materials wherever possible. ”The first stage of recycling is to pulp the material in water,” according to David Brenner of the Packaging Group, Inc., a consulting firm in Milltown, N.J. ”If there are heavy metals in the inks, the water picks it up and you have toxic waste-water.” It is with these concerns in mind that iDEA has had all currently manufactured product tested and certified as compliant under the new regulations.

Many Disc Replicators claim to be “Eco-Friendly” or “Green” when they may only have taken one or two of the currently available steps to become more environmentally responsible. iDEA MEDIA is constantly seeking new and better options to offer our clients that reduce the harmful impact on our environment. We offer a complete line of Eco-Friendly products using 100% recycled paper materials, 100% recycled plastic disc trays (with at least 35% post consumer content), and the use of Soy Inks in the printing process. Many of our paper products are certified as FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) compliant, and come from responsibly harvested and managed forests. Additionally, many of our plastic case packaging options are available with varying levels of post consumer recycled content. iDEA MEDIA is and will continue to be a leader in protecting our environment through technological advancement and innovation.

iDEA MEDIA certifies that our optical media screen printing inks, including the DVD, AR, OM and OF series, have been formulated to comply with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) Section 101 Children’s Products Containing Lead; Lead Paint Rule’s new limit for lead of 90 parts per million (0.009 percent). These products are also formulated to comply with the ASTM F963 Toy Standard for Lead and other heavy metals. X-ray Fluorescence technology is our method for screening which the Consumer Product Safety Commission approves this method. In addition, these products have been formulated not to contain the following phthalates that are prohibited under Section 108 of the CPSIA: DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, and DnOP. We also confirm that we, iDEA MEDIA, do not use any lead during the manufacturing process of our packaging products.
